At Garden State Speech Therapy, we provide evaluation services and a host of treatments methods for treating speech disorders.

Pediatric Speech Language Evaluations

Our comprehensive speech therapy evaluations offer thorough, holistic assessment of speech and language skills, individualized treatment plans tailored to your child’s unique needs, expert guidance, and a family-centered approach.

Our Treatments

The speech therapist may engage your child in activities, conversations, or play to assess their communication skills. Standardized tests may be used to help in comparing your child's skills to typical developmental milestones. We use this information to create an individualized plan to treat the following:

  • Language disorders may include having trouble understanding what others say, difficulty following directions, understanding social rules, engaging in conversations, having problems sharing thoughts, ideas, and feelings with others, as well as difficulties in reading and writing.

  • Children may develop articulation problems, such as using a “w” sound for “r” such as saying “wun” instead of “run.” Articulation therapy helps children speak clearly, feel confident when communicating and supports reading and writing skills.

  • Childhood Apraxia of Speech can be a frustrating and challenging condition for both children and their families. Our experienced and caring therapists specialize in providing personalized care to improve motor planning, control, and coordination through cutting-edge and evidence-based techniques including PROMPT, DTTC, and ReST to find the best approach to help your child succeed.

  • Feeding and swallowing disorders in children can be a source of immense stress and concern for parents and caregivers. These disorders can manifest in various ways, such as difficulty in eating, drinking, or managing food textures. We will work with your family to help your child learn to eat in a play-based environment and at a pace that works best for their body. Our feeding program utilizes systematic desensitization to teach your child new skills in a manner that respects their readiness, sensory needs, and comfort level.

  • A voice disorder may be characterized by your child presenting with hoarseness, vocal fatigue, raspiness, periodic loss of voice, or inappropriate pitch or loudness. Respiratory problems may occur due to abnormal closure of the vocal cords called Paradoxical Vocal Fold Motion (PVFM) which can often be successfully treated with voice therapy.
